Study Organization Overview

Students interested in the joint study program should contact the contact persons in their home university (Bonn or Wageningen). In the program, students start their studies in the home university. With the fulfillment of certain study requirements (in Wageningen usually after the first year of MSc studies, in Bonn either after the 7th semester (Diploma students) or after the first year of MSc studies)) students may change to the host university for further studies and the master thesis. The master thesis is supervised by lecturers from both universities. In the case of Diploma students from Bonn, the master thesis is accepted as diploma thesis as well.

Required courses at the host university are being offered in English.

Wageningen students usually start their study period in Bonn in fall. They participate in courses during the winter semester. The summer semester does primarily focus on a research project course. The following winter semester is reserved for the master thesis. If of interest, students could participate in German language courses.

Bonn Diploma students usually start their study period in Wageningen in spring after 18 months of their ‘Hauptstudium’. In Wageningen, they participate in courses for one year before they start with the master thesis. Bonn MSc students (MSc in Food and Resource Economics) usually start their study period in Wageningen in fall. They participate in courses for one year. Afterwards they conclude their studies with the master thesis.

There are application deadlines for the exchange (about 6 months before the exchange). The deadlines are for organizational purposes but may support applications for scholarships and facilitate the reservation of university housing facilities. Students should apply for inclusion in the ‘List for Joint Study Program Participation’ kept in the Deans office (Dekanat, Meckenheimer Allee 174, Raum 6, Studienangelegenheiten) of the Faculty of Agriculture.
